"This is Halloween" Nail Art Challenge! Day 1: Horror Movies

Hello all! I have decided to do another nail art challenge! This one was created by Bec of Lacquer Dreams. It technically started yesterday, but I found out about it last night and figured I should join in! This one has Ghosts and graveyard! How cool is that? So as of now I am currently doing two Halloween nail art challenges and two Halloween nail art contests. I'm also doing the Let's Do the Time Warp Challenge, which ends tomorrow, and on Friday I will be starting another challenge. I am a busy one! Today's objective was to create a design inspired by a horror movie.

I get scared horribly easier so I am not a huge fan of horror movies. I haven't seen many in my life, so my choices were limiting. I decided to go with one of my all time favorite movies, (which might not be considered a horror movie) Sleepy Hollow. When I saw it for the first time it really scared the crap out of me. Christopher Walken as the headless horsemen is pretty frightening!

This is pretty horrifying, right?
I hope this counts as a horror film. I know the story that the movie is based off of is a scary story, so it should count right? I think anything that includes a headless horseman should could has horror. For my nail art design I choose to go Tim Burton style and make it all grey and dark. I hope you all enjoy it!

I just love how the tree on my thumb came out. This is the tree that Ichabod discovers to be the gateway to hell. I'm very happy with all the detail. If you haven't seen the movie, I recommend that you do!

What I used:
  • Base coat: OPI Skull & Glossbones
  • Black, white, red, yellow acrylic paint
  • Sally Hansen Silver Sweep
  • Nail art brushes
As I write this post I can't help but wonder... Is Halloween Johnny Depp's favorite holiday? I really hope it is! I really want to watch this movie now! Well I hope you enjoyed my post!

See you tomorrow!

The Halloween Challenge! Day 1: Trick or Treats

Hello! I know this is my third post for the day but I'm feeling rather ambitious...I have some fun news to share! So last night I was on the amazing blog Samariums Swatches and I read that Sarah was joining a nail art challenge....a Halloween nail art challenge. It sounded like so much fun that I wanted to join in the fun too! It's being hosted by the Facebook group Crumpet's Nail Tarts. This group was created by Debbie, who has an amazing blog called the Crumpet. Her blog really is amazing, you should check it out. Anyways, I was just accepted in the group this morning! I am so excited to do another challenge. I just completed the 31 Day Challenge and I'm not ready to stop cold turkey. I need to do more nail art! Now this isn't an everyday thing. Which is good because that was a little bit ridiculous. Here is the layout of the challenge:

I think this is going to be so fun! Halloween is my favorite holiday! The first day of the challenge is Trick or Treats. I choose to do one of my favorite Halloween candies, candy corn! I choose to do not only original candy corn but chocolate too! I love the variety bags that have the original, chocolate and pumpkin kinds.

What is your favorite Halloween candy? I am really looking forward to this month. There are some fun contests and challenges going on. I'm really looking forward to getting to know the other challengers.

Also, fun news for the day! I was also featured on the iFabbo blog as a favorite for the week. You can check it out here.

Until next time,
PeaceErin

Let's Do the Time Warp Challenge! Day 7: You're Timeless to Me!

Hello all! There are only two days left of the Let's Do the Time Warp Challenge. Today's challenge was to create a manicure inspired by something that never goes out of style; something that was popular then and now. What a hard objective! I seriously had tunnel vision and could only think of denim jeans. Denim has been around for quite sometime and through the decades, though the style of jeans have changed, the love for them hasn't. My mother wore bell bottoms, I wear skinny jeans. Because denim has been popular pretty much since the 1950s and is still a fashion staple today, I think denim is timeless.

What I used:
  • Base coat: essence Gleam in Blue
  • NYC Skin Tight Denim
  • Stamp: BM 202
  • Stamping polish: Sally Hansen Silver Sweep
  • A piece of denim

I originally just had the denim lines on the nails but I thought it would look better with a zipper stamp. This is what my nails looked like before the stamping though.

I just love how these nails came out! It was incredibly simple to do too! I would explain how I did it but I plan on creating a tutorial for it as soon as possible. What do you guys think?

So this Wednesday is Day 8 of the challenge, the final day. This challenge sure has been a blast, a blast from the past. I have really enjoyed creating designs and seeing all of the other awesome designs from the other ladies in the challenge. I have to now recreate my favorite from another challenger...this is going to be hard! I loved so many!

Until next time,
PeaceErin

31 Day Challenge! Day 31: Recreate Favorite Manicure

Hello! It's October! Not only is it the beginning of the best month of the year (Halloween is the best!), it's the last day of the 31 day challenge! I can't believe I did it...so many of us did it! WOO! It was stressful and frustrating at times but I had so much fun! I feel like I grew and definitely learned a lot from this experience. As a beginner nail artist, I have seen so much improvement in my skill and I have learned so many useful techniques! I can't wait to continue growing and continue working on making my blog better. I want to thank Rachel from Polished Criminails for making this all possible. It was such an amazing experience to belong to such a big challenge. I think this challenge is something I will partake in annually, it just seems like a cool thing to do. As for the objective of the last day, recreate your favorite manicure, I was thinking of redoing one of my creations from the challenge but it seemed like a better idea to recreate one of my favorite manicures from someone else who partook in the challenge. It was really hard to choose a favorite manicure, it really was. There were some really talent ladies that did this challenge with me. I went back through my favorite challenge days and finally just decided to choose a great manicure that I have been wanting to try forever. I choose to recreate Polish Groupie's Retro Wallpaper mani. I have seen this nail design around the web and have been dying to try it. I just love the colors Polish Groupie used.

I just love this design! I think the green Polish Groupie used was a better fit for a retro feel. I used essence Lime Up! as my basecoat. I also used my Kiss black and white stripers for the lines and then used Konad stamping polish to create the dots.

What do you guys think?

I still can't believe it! 31 Days of Nail Art! AH! I'm going to be working on a blog page to showcase the challenge. Here's a reminder of all the fun I had in September!

Don't forget I still have one challenge still going on! The Let's Do the Time Warp Challenge still has two posts left! And with October starting, I will probably be doing Halloween themed contests and challenges, so stay tuned.

See you later!
PeaceErin
