Let's Do the Time Warp Challenge! Day 8: Let's Do the Time Warp Again!

Hello all! Today is the last day for the Nail Polish Canada and Neverland Nail Blog's Let's Do the Time Warp Again Challenge. Well let's do the time warp again because today's challenge was to recreate our favorite manicure done by another challenger. This was a very hard decision since everyone did such an amazing job! There were so many incredible manicures done, how was I to pick just one? Well there was one manicure that made my mouth drop! It's incredible, so my absolute favorite manicure took place on day 4, Light's Camera and Action. It was created by Amber from Amber Did It. She made an amazing Steel Magnolia manicure. Despite my love for this manicure, I know my skill set and it isn't anywhere close to matching Amber's, so I decided to choose my second favorite manicure, which was also done by Amber. On day 2 of the challenge, she created an adorable flapper girl manicure. You can see her adorable design here. My take didn't come out as good but it's not all that bad. So here are my flapper nails:

The only thing I dislike about my recreation is the flapper girl's face. I just can't do people! Amber did such an amazing job on hers, I'm jealous!

Let's Do the Time Warp Challenge! Day 7: You're Timeless to Me!

Hello all! There are only two days left of the Let's Do the Time Warp Challenge. Today's challenge was to create a manicure inspired by something that never goes out of style; something that was popular then and now. What a hard objective! I seriously had tunnel vision and could only think of denim jeans. Denim has been around for quite sometime and through the decades, though the style of jeans have changed, the love for them hasn't. My mother wore bell bottoms, I wear skinny jeans. Because denim has been popular pretty much since the 1950s and is still a fashion staple today, I think denim is timeless.

What I used:

• Base coat: essence Gleam in Blue
• NYC Skin Tight Denim
• Stamp: BM 202
• Stamping polish: Sally Hansen Silver Sweep
• A piece of denim

I originally just had the denim lines on the nails but I thought it would look better with a zipper stamp. This is what my nails looked like before the stamping though. 

I just love how these nails came out! It was incredibly simple to do too! I would explain how I did it but I plan on creating a tutorial for it as soon as possible. What do you guys think?

So this Wednesday is Day 8 of the challenge, the final day. This challenge sure has been a blast, a blast from the past. I have really enjoyed creating designs and seeing all of the other awesome designs from the other ladies in the challenge. I have to now recreate my favorite from another challenger...this is going to be hard! I loved so many!

Let's Do the Time Warp Challenge! Day 6: They sure don't make 'em like they use to!

Hello all! Day 6 of the challenge already! Today's objective was to create a nail art design based on a classic game or toy. I knew what I was going to do for today the instant I saw the layout for the challenge! I choose my absolute favorite game, the board game Clue! As for the title of today's challenge, "They sure don't make 'em like they use to," this statement is very true for Clue. They really don't make Clue like the use to. In fact, I absolutely hate the new version of the game.

I really hate change, especially when something is so good. So Parker Brothers, give me my Clue back! I was so excited to do Clue nails, however, I love Clue so much that I think I went a little over board on the details of my nail art. I really need to learn how to simplify my ideas. I can't get over how many little things I painted, it's really hard to see them all! I have all 6 character pieces and all 6 weapons. I decided to only use four of the nine rooms. I choose some of my favorites; the conservatory, the billiard room, the library and the kitchen. The idea was to do some of the game board, using all of the game pieces. What do you guys think?

I hope you guys got what I was trying to do and I hope you guys liked my design. I really need to remember to simplify...Only two days of the challenge left! Day 7 of the challenge is going to be hard! I have no idea what is timeless...

I'm going to have to really think about the next challenge. I'm really looking forward to what everyone else came up with today.

Let's Do the Time Warp Challenge! Day 5: "We can do it!"

Hello all! I hope everyone had a nice weekend! I did but I woke up feeling sick today. No fun but hopefully I'll feel better soon. Anyways, today is Day 5 of the Let's Do the Time Warp Challenge! The objective was to create a design honoring an influential woman in history. I choose to honor Marie Curie, one of the most influential women of all time.

Let's Do the Time Warp Challenge! Day 4: Lights, camera, action!

Hello all! I intended to have this posted hours ago but something came up. So let's get on with it: Lights, camera, action! Today's objective was to pick a nostalgic movie, song, or piece of literature and turn into an awesome nail art design. I choose to do the classic movie, The Wizard of Oz. I would have to say that these nails were probably the hardest I've ever done!

I choose to do a story with my nails. My left hand depicts the yellow brick road and how Dorothy (the ruby red slippers) is on her way to see the Wizard, the wonderful wizard of Oz! I have the yellow brick road, some poppies and then I tried to do the Emerald City, which was really hard! Right in front of the city, I have four little stick figures to represent the gang.

Before I added some black outlines to the Emerald City.  Looks like a green blob right?

 Which brings me to my right hand! I have Dorothy herself, the Scarecrow, Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion and of course, Toto. I just love how my Scarecrow turned out and Toto is just adorable. Unfortunately Dorothy looks like a creepy possessed doll, while the Tin man looks like Humpty Dumpty coated in silver paint haha.

I just love how Toto came out! 

What I used:

• Base color: Sally Hansen White On
• Yellow: Ulta Sun-sational
• Red: OPI Rudolph Red
• Brown: China Glaze Street Chic
• Silver: Sally Hansen Silver Sweep
• The rest of the colors are all acrylic paint. I mixed some. All the colors used: black, white, blue, yellow, red, peach.
• Fine tipped nail art brush
• Dotting tools for eyes

Despite this film being from 1939, it is still an amazing and classic work of art. Generations have seen it and I believe will continue to see it for years to come. I definitely think this film deserves to have some spotlight.

Next week is definitely going to be a challenge, Day 5 especially! We have to create a manicure inspired by an influential women in history. Day 6 is going to be fun, since I already have a classic game in mind :)

Let's Do the Time Warp Challenge! Day 3: I remember when...

Hello all! Day 3 of the challenge, I remember when... The objective was to make a nail art design based of an event in history, either well known or personal. I had a really hard time choosing an event, so I asked for help from my lovely best friend, Tara. Being the genius that she is, she came up with the perfect event. This event is a very well known event, one that I wasn't around for but had a very significant impact to the world. My event is in honor of Neil Armstrong, the first man on the moon!

With Neil Armstrong recently passing away this year, it was such a great idea to do a design that would honor and celebrate his biggest achievement. Thank you Tara for the having such a great idea! In 1969, Neil Armstrong was the first man to walk on the moon. As soon as he stepped onto the Moon's surface he said, "One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." He was right. RIP Neil Armstrong! 

This is the picture I used for my inspiration. It was pretty difficult to paint an astronaut, I hope you guys like it!

Wednesday is Day 4 of the challenge: Light's, camera, action!

I already have some ideas for day 4 and I can't wait to start creating. Make sure to check out the other challenges I've been doing! I've been a busy girl.

Let's Do the Time Warp Challenge! Day 2: It's vintage, darling!

Hello all! Today is the Day 2 of the Let's Do the Time Warp Challenge! It's vintage, darling! Today's objective was to create a design based off fashion from the past. I've decided to go with the poodle skirt.

In the 1950s, poodle skirts became popular among teenage girls. I believe they would wear them to the school dances or sock hops.

I took inspiration from the TV show Happy Days. I remember the girls dancing in poodle skirts on a checkerboard floor. The music was always playing at that diner! So for my design, I have a poodle skirt, a white T shirt with scarf, the shoes that some girls wore, the checkerboard floor and a fail attempt at a record.

Let's Do the Time Warp Challenge! Day 1: I should have been born in...

Hello all! First off I would like to say hello to all of my new readers! Hi! I'm so excited to share my nails with you :) If you are new then I need to catch you up with what's going on here on the blog. I am currently involved in 2 nail art challenges, which is turning into 3 since I am starting this one today. Three nail art challenges! AHHH! I am crazy haha This is what happened...I created a challenge that's only once a week back in July, then I started doing the 31 day challenge, THEN I was on the lovely Neverland Nail Blog and saw that she was hosting a new challenge. Lindsey's new challenge sounded like so much fun I just couldn't pass it up. Here's the layout.

Doesn't this sound like so much fun?! I am very excited because not only is this challenge going to be fun, I could potentially win a prize! Wahoo! Lindsey is going to be posting every Monday and Wednesday. I'm thinking I will join her on those days, I just had to post today due to yesterday's traveling and pampering my injured ankle.

Day 1: I should have been born in... The idea was to pick a  decade we wish we could have lived in. I choose the 1970s. This was the time of peace, love and happiness. There were go go dancers and hippies, and the beginning of disco! Though I love Disco, I choose to channel the hippy/tye dye part of the 70s. I used a sponge for my thumb and pinky. For the rest of my nails, I did water marbling. It actually came out good! I was amazed haha. 

What I used:

• Base color: Sally Hansen Coral Reef
• Thumb and pinky: 
• SH Coral reef, SH Sun kissed, SH Mellow yellow
• Makeup sponge
• White stamping polish. 
• BM 322, BM 320, BM203.
• Index, middle, ring fingers:

• Water, dixie cup, toothpick.

• Various sized nail art brushes.
